14:00 THE WORM IS TURNING 103mins
Directors: Hilary Bain & Asa Mark USA 2015 F
Speaker: Guy Watson

THE WORM IS TURNING connects the dots on global food issues, from the World Trade Organization to earthworms in the soil, to how the organic movement came about.

The film shows the story and consequences of chemical farming, and how corporate centralised control of global food production can destroy economies and ecologies. We also see how ecological farming combines producing food while restoring the environment, creating meaningful jobs and a sustainable agriculture.

UN studies show that small ecological farms are more productive than big monoculture farms.

This film provides a way to understand what is going on, and to enable informed choices about where your food comes from. The Shakespearian expression ‘The smallest worm will turn being trodden on’ describes how even the meekest of creatures retaliate if pushed too far. The revolution of ecological farming fights back, changing life in the soil and the life of farmers.
