Seven Nepali women are on a mission to climb the seven highest peaks on seven continents, hoping to inspire women and girls all over the world to pursue the impossible. In Tanzania they are joined by three African women to climb the continent’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro. We follow their journey, from their homes to the summit, and on to the Tanzanian schools where they share their stories.

The physical challenges of the Kilimanjaro climb parallel the individual stories each woman relates about overcoming “gender obstacles” growing up, and the role of education in getting them where they are today. A timely and inspiring film about women who succeed against the odds, calling attention to the challenges girls and young women face growing up in traditional patriarchal societies of the developing world.

The Last Guardians is a documentary made alongside the indigenous Sàpara and Kichwa communities of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

A culture in conflict with Western values, these nations are fighting for their lives. Their campaign against oil drilling on their land is their last chance to save the forest they call home.

This film is a unique insight into how indigenous people live and see the world, and a warning of what the world will lose if their rights and beliefs are ignored. Bringing exposure to the threats they are facing from extractive industry, the film also sheds light on their philosophy and way of life.

Now, more than ever, the global community can learn from indigenous knowledge and wisdom in its battle to conserve the planet. Becoming, once more, guardians of the land which gives us life.
