Visioning The Future through Craftivism
Facilitator: Lili John
People’s Cafe – The Mansion, High Street, Totnes TQ9 5RP

FULLY BOOKED

What is Craftivism?   The word takes its form by combining two dynamic activities:  crafting (the creation of beautiful, thoughtful crafts) and activism (the act of making a difference in the world through protest).

Craftivism is therefore about raising consciousness and helping to create a better world; stitch by stitch, with a swish of paintbrush and/or making something entirely by hand.  It is about the way in which an individual wants to make peaceful protest against things such as: social injustice; environmental issues, and world problems that affect people across the globe on a day to day basis.

The two-hour workshop will explore several ideas of craftivism and participants will be given the opportunity to try one or more projects.
They will be invited to contribute to an exhibition piece which will be displayed in the People’s Cafe in Totnes after the festival.

Numbers are limited to 8
Please arrive 10 minutes early so that the workshop can begin promptly
